BioNFix®-AC

Azotobacter Chroococcum BNL801

BioNFix®-AC is a biofertilizer powered by the naturally occurring beneficial diazotrophic bacterium, Azotobacter chroococcum BNL801. This Gram-negative bacterium efficiently fixes up to 50 kg/ha of atmospheric nitrogen, enhancing soil fertility and plant growth. BioNFix®-AC is suitable for use as a seed dressing or soil inoculant.

Benefits

How does it work

Nitrogen cannot be absorbed by the plants alone, remaining to the strong triple bonds between the nitrogen atoms, making it inert and therefore not directly usable by plants. Azotobacter chroococcum converts molecular nitrogen into nitrogenous compounds that can be consumed by plants. A. chroococcum produces enzymes such as ferredoxin, hydrogenase and nitrogenase. Nitrogen fixation needs a large amount of energy in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) and an anaerobic environment (no oxygen). Thus, Azotobacter chroococcum develops a special defence mechanism against oxygen by intensifying its metabolism that reduces the oxygen concentration in its cells. A special protein sheath is present that protects the important nitrogenase enzyme. Homocitrate ions play some role in the processes of Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF).

FAQs

A:  BioNfix®-AC is a biofertiliser made from Azotobacter chroococcum BNL801, a naturally occurring diazotrophic bacterium isolated from soil.
A: Azotobacter chroococcum fixes atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia, a plant-available form of nitrogen, and promotes soil fertility and plant growth.
A : Benefits
  • BioNfix®-AC can fix up to 50 kg/ha of Nitrogen, improving plant and soil health and aiding soil remediation.
  • BioNfix®-AC has plant growth-promoting properties (PGPR).
  • It can be used as a practical component in Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) programs.
  • BioNfix®-AC can reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and create a safer environment.
  • By using BioNfix®-AC, you can promote healthy crops while being mindful of the environment.
A : It is generally recommended to apply the fertiliser during the early stages of crop development, such as when sowing or transplanting.
A : The recommended dosages are as follows:
Application Dose
Seed TreatmentMix 1 g BioNfix®-AC with 10 g of sugar in sufficient water to make a slurry and coat 1 kg of seeds. Allow to dry in a cool shaded area before sowing. Note: Do not store treated/coated seeds for more than 24 hours.
Soil applicationMix 250 grams of BioNfix®-AC with compost or substrate and apply to one hectare of soil during the early growth stages of the crop.
Soil drenchingDissolve 250 g in sufficient water to treat 1 ha and drench soil at the early growth stages of the crop.
Perennial & Orchard cropsDissolve 250 g/ha in water and apply as a drench near the root zone twice a year – before spring growth begins and after autumn leaf fall.
Drip IrrigationDissolve 250 grams in enough water to treat 1 hectare. Filter out insoluble residues before adding them to the drip tank.
A : No, BioNfix®-AC cannot be used together with chemical fertilisers or other agrochemicals as it may harm the beneficial bacteria. However, it is compatible with other Biofertilizers and Biopesticides.
A: BioNfix®-AC has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacturing. The duration of its effectiveness may vary, but the benefits can typically last for several weeks or even months. To maintain the desired results, reapplication may be necessary.
A: It is generally acceptable to spray during the daytime, but for best results, it is important to take into consideration the temperature, moisture, and sunlight conditions. Avoid spraying during extremely hot and sunny conditions as high temperatures and intense sunlight can stress the bacteria and reduce their effectiveness.
A: In general, you may see some positive effects within a few weeks to a couple of months after applying BioNfix®-AC. For more significant and long-lasting results, it is recommended to use it consistently over multiple growing seasons.
A: BioNfix®-AC increases nutrient use efficiency by enlarging roots, stimulating nitrogen assimilation, and fixing atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia, a plant-available nitrogen form. This enhances soil fertility and plant growth.
A: It is best to store the biofertiliser powder in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Make sure to follow the recommended storage conditions mentioned on the product packaging.
A: BioNfix®-AC is suitable for use on cereals, millets, pulses, oilseeds, forage, vegetables, fruits, orchards, and ornamentals.
A: BioNfix®-AC is considered environmentally friendly as it reduces the reliance on synthetic fertilisers, promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
A: Although BioNfix®-AC is generally safe, it is always advisable to exercise caution when using any gardening or agricultural products. If you notice any adverse reactions in children or pets, it is recommended that you consult with a veterinarian or healthcare professional to address any specific concerns.
A: BioNfix®-AC can be used together with other soil conditioners or amendments. Using biofertilisers like BioNfix®-AC alongside other soil amendments can often result in synergistic effects, which promote overall soil health and plant growth.
